The Four Letter "F" Word 😱

Updated: Mar 13, 2023

Happy Thursday Three!

Here are this week's coaching tip, exercise tutorial and question to ponder for the week.

I. Coaching tip

The four-letter "F" word.

How many times have you answered a question with "fine"?

Being "fine" sits smack between being awesome and being in pain. It's neither good enough to feel entirely satisfied nor is it bad enough to push towards change.

"Fine" gives us a good-enough feeling. If a doctor says, your cholesterol looks fine, happy days! Yet if they say it's "poor," you suddenly have a reason to get moving.

Without a catalyst to nudge you forward, you might remain stuck indefinitely in the "fine" zone.

There are areas of our lives where "fine" might be good enough, but what about those areas that matter most?

For those areas, "fine" can be a dangerous place. If it's important to you, don't accept "fine"; push further into the fray.

II. Exercise Tutorial

Fixing desk jockey shoulders

Hours spent behind a desk often lead to tight rounded shoulders and limited mobility and stability.

I've had my fair share of shoulder injuries and learned the hard way what happens if you don't look after them.

The seated external rotation is a staple exercise to help combat the desk jockey shoulders. You can perform it with dumbbells, weight place, resistance bands or even a tin of beans.

III. Question to Ponder

Attention + Effort = Outcomes

I genuinely believe that what you give the most attention to will receive the most effort from you. And where your effort goes will determine your outcomes.

If you look for problems, that's what you will find, but if you search for solutions instead, that's what you will find.

P.S. If you enjoyed this week's Thursday Three, share it with a friend.

Thanks,

Jamie
